Tattoo Removal
For over 20 years, Asclepion's nano-lasers with different wavelengths have been used for tattoo removal. Compared to other procedures, this treatment method is characterized by a very low risk of scarring. Recently, the most modern Pico technology has become available, further optimizing treatment results and requiring fewer sessions.
The type of laser determines which pigments of which color can be particularly well treated and which color responds less to treatment. Ruby lasers (694 nm) have proven to be universally applicable in practice. This wavelength is highly absorbed by green pigments and, generally, dark colors. Nd:YAG laser light (532; 1064 nm) is very well absorbed by red, blue, and dark colors.
The wavelength of ruby or Nd:YAG laser light is specifically absorbed by tattoo color pigments. Due to the transmitted energy, encapsulated color particles are sharply fragmented from the connective tissue capsules. Subsequently, the fragmented particles decompose epidermally and lymphatically. The irradiated skin area appears whitish for 10 to 20 minutes immediately after treatment. Then, slight scabs will form for about 1 or 2 weeks. To remove the tattoo, several sessions are usually necessary at intervals of several weeks. Patients typically tolerate laser treatment without anesthesia. Only in individual cases is superficial anesthesia used.
